Gospel Of Luke

After the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus, the Christian message began to spread to areas outside of Jerusalem. As the customs of the Gentiles differed greatly from those of Judaism, the Gospel of Luke addresses Jesus’ message of salvation to all of humanity.

Luke adapts the content of the Gospel message, as does Matthew from Mark and another unknown source called “Q.” Thus, the main priority for all the four gospel writers is not to record for historical accuracy, but rather to share Jesus’ message for love of Christ and God’s people.

Rev. Anderson asserts that though this gospel is addressing all humanity, we will find in God’s Word here that Luke has a special concern for all outcasts: “the poor, the sick, sinners, women, foreigners, and conquerors. He writes a gospel filled with compassion and mercy for the downtrodden.”
