The year of his death in 1879 Joseph P. Thompson, pastor-scholar, wrote this book at the request of the American Tract Society. The grave dangers of Socialism and Communism were in the news around the world, and ATS sought the help of Thompson to speak with a passionate eloquence to these burning issues of the day.
