Jennie King gets horribly injured in a car-bomb attack on the other side of the world. When she awakens in a stateside hospital, she finds herself covered in one of her grandmother’s Amish quilts. An accoompanying note invites her to visit Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to heal her body, mind, and spirit. During her recuperation, she renews her friendship with her grandmother’s neighbor, Matthew Bontrager, a man Jennie had a secret crush on years ago. Matthew had intended to ask Jennie to marry him, but when her father objected, Matthew acquiesced.

Now, when Jennie and Matthew meet again, they discover their feelings for each other have not changed. But Jennie has emotional and physical scars and though she feels she has come home to this man and this place, she’s not sure she can bridge the difference between their worlds.
