Tale Of Three Cities

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness. . . .” So stated Charles Dickens in his classic, A Tale of Two Cities. In this book we will one up Mr. Dickens with A Tale of Three Cities, a message centered around the three cities in the Book of Jonah-Ninevah, Tarshish, and Joppa. Rather than providing a historical account of Jonah’s travels to these cities or a geographical study, we will view these places as personal illustrations of spiritual life. Nineveh represents God’s will for our lives. Tarshish represents our human attitude of “I’ll do it my way.” And Joppa is the place of spiritual decision.
