Reflections : Casting Stones

Church seems so much about you. You being there to give, serve, and sacrifice. God seems only interested in your usefulness as the pressure from one Christian obligation to the next sends your head spinning. The conclusion: Christians work! But what if there was more to the story or, better yet, a different story altogether? Reflections reminds us what the story really is. Using the Pharisees, it charts a path to life’s real purpose by recalling the foundation on which God presents Himself: faith, hope, and, most importantly, love. Love, in lieu of legal godliness and righteousness (pride), in lieu of traditional identity, service, and gifts. In this story, Christians love! This gift, The Love, is free. It releases us to be ourselves unchained, unmasked, and unashamed. It reveals that life is about your relationship with God, not your goodness (usefulness). Life is love!
