Mark Gillen’s world changes when his daughter, Maddie, is born. Formerly a self-obsessed, struggling actor, Mark sees in his daughter a vision of greater things. Mark still wants to act, but something has changed. When his wife, Paula, gets a major supporting role in a movie to be shot in Europe with hot young director Antonio Troncatti, Mark agrees to stay behind with Maddie. But as the months of Paula’s shoot go by, news drifts back to Mark…and the news isn’t good. Paula and Troncatti, who has a bad-boy reputation, are being seen at European nights spots dancing cheek-to-cheek. Her phone call, when it finally comes, is not reassuring. And when she returns, she asks for a divorce and for Maddie. And so begins Mark’s fight to keep his daughter in the face of betrayal, the formidable legal machine Troncatti’s wealth provides for Paula, and a legal system that looks askance at any father who wants to keep a young daughter…A fight in which Mark’s newfound faith seems to work against him rather than for him.
