The ardent Spanish soldier who, while recuperating from a battle wound, was converted to the service of Christ by reading a Catholic book. He did great penance, wrote his Spiritual Exercises, gathered a following of brilliant holy men, founded the Jesuits, helped stem the tide of the Protestant Reformation, sent St. Francis Xavier to India and gave many new Saints to the Church!
