The Puritans were at the forefront of the worldwide mission movement, and this book examines five representatives of that tradition. The first three chapters looks at how three writers (Richard Sibbes, Richard Baxter and John Eliot) addressed the conversion of man, the role of the church and the redemption of the world, which is also the focus of the book’s conclusion. The final chapter analyzes the progress of missions through both Cotton Mather and Jonathan Edwards.
